Is autism a disability or an ability?

It is in this past years, autism mothers are coming out of the open with their children being known to have autism. Others say autism is a disability and others say although it is others can be of a normal child as well having the ability to be accepted by the society with whatever talents they have. Want to know you opinion on this matter and your view will be very much appreciated.
